About the ESS & VEEC

The scheme works through a system of Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs) and Victorian Energy Efficient Certificates (VEEC) which customers earn from Recognised Energy Saving Activities (RESAs), and which are created through Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs) as a result of cutting electricity use. (To be eligible for ESCs & VEECs, the project should save a minimum of around 20 MWh per annum.)

Each ESC & VEEC represents a saving of approximately one-megawatt hour, which the ACP then sells to electricity retailers who must acquire or create an annual target number of certificates. ACPs can receive up to $31 for each certificate they generate and they forward a payment to the customer based on the energy savings they are making.

Ilum-a-Lite is working closely with Accredited Certificate Provider partners who will process the claims.
