Motor eControl
Saving energy on AC induction motors can be achieved by slowing them down, but what happens if you can’t slow them down? You have no choice but to have them running at full power throughout the duty cycle.
Maybe not now.
Motor Econtrol is a cost effective and compact controller that can deliver energy savings to constant speed electric motors by controlling the amount of electricity used by the motor when it is lightly loaded.
Most constant speed motors have variable loads so the motor is designed to manage a maximum load but may, for long periods of time have minimal or no load.
Paradoxically, a fully loaded motor is very efficient while a motor running at a fraction of its capacity can be quite inefficient.
Motor eControl removes some of these inefficiencies when the motor is running lightly loaded.
Saving as high as 40% can be achieved but the actual saving will depend on:
- The percentage of time the motor is "unloaded”
- The percentage load when the motor is "unloaded”
Motor Econtrol saves energy by constantly monitoring the load and adjusting the power necessary for the motor to maintain its operation. With Motor Econtrol managing a motor there is no change to functionality – only energy saving when the motor is lowly loaded or idling.
Motor Econtrol saves energy on single phase and three phase induction motors that run at constant speeds but have varied loads.
Typical examples are:
- Industrial fridges and chillers
- Conveyors
- Escalators
- Mills
- Presses
- Injection moulders
