Lamp guide
When considering which lamps to use we recommend considering the following:
Manufacturer
Be sure that the brand is reputable and stock is readily available from multiple locations and outlets
Lamp Life
Many different methods are used to describe lamp life. Some describe the time at which lumen output has degraded by a certain percentage - 10%, 50% etc. This is normally a large figure and looks impressive. Another method is to describe the percentage of lamps which have failed by a certain time. Obviously a 50% failure rate will take longer to happen than a 10% failure rate so the "life"will appear to be longer. Regardless of the method used, make sure that you compare like with like when making your choice.
Warranty
Some lamp manufacturers have very restrictive warranties. Be sure that you have a warranty on your lamps that will be honoured and that the fine print will not leave you without warranty cover.
Recommendation
We have conducted our own analyses of common brands of lamps in Australia and New Zealand and recommend either Radium (a Division of OSRAM), GE or Sylvania lamps as meeting the criteria shown above. These are available widely and we will be happy to provide a price for you to purchase them from us.
